By continuing to split its focus between Far Long Island and Near the New York Islanders are telling us its intent is an eventual return to Nassau. Unlike the Brooklyn Nets (NBA) NYI has stated it will not invest in a Brooklyn centric practice facility but will do so and maintain corporate offices in Nassau. So, the question is, what is the over and under on how much time will pass before NYIs return to Nassau.
A wholly separate matter but just as convincing as the aforementioned is a lack of capital improvement plan to address the ill fit of Barclays for hockey seating.
Renovation and commitment time. Stop straddling the fence and build and invest in the community of Brooklyn with offices, practice facility, and community engagement. Commit to capital improvement and buy into or sell into current arena ownership.
